Mr. Neal's Letter to Members for 2010.


Dear Walking Horse Owner,

The Walking Horse Owners’ Association is proud to offer a new vision for the association and its membership for 2010. At the recent WHOA Board of Directors meeting a Horse Show Development Program for 2010 was unanimously approved. The goal is to sponsor 75 shows and events in 2010 and up to 100 shows and events in 2011. WHOA shows will be affiliated with various HIO’s depending on the area of the country and the discipline involved. To represent all facets of the breed WHOA shows and events will be oriented toward Youth, Academy, Pleasure, Performance, Versatility, and Novice exhibitors. WHOA will have something for everyone.

Our industry is in a state that we have not seen before and many shows are no longer in existence. We feel that by providing services, shows, and programs for all disciplines of the breed, WHOA will help in the preservation of the Tennessee Walking Horse. WHOA will also be implementing a WHOA HIO for 2010. This will ensure a voice for our members in negotiations with the USDA and represent the interest of WHOA and its show circuit. WHOA will also continue to honor its members through the National High Point Program that has been in place since 1976. This program accepts show results from any HIO or Walking Horse show across the country.

Enclosed you will find a WHOA membership application for 2010. I encourage you to join with us to make our goals for the Owners’ Association a reality. WHOA is here for you.
