A STATEMENT FROM THE NATIONAL HORSE
SHOW COMMISSION
The National Horse Show Commission (NHSC)
at its May 29, 2007 meeting was
presented with a request from the
Tennessee Walking Horse National
Celebration to help preserve the
tradition of the National Futurity
for our industry. In a spirit of
cooperation and in an effort to
preserve the relationship between
the National Futurity and the
Celebration, the NHSC voted to allow
our licensed judges to judge the
TWHBEA sanctioned National Futurity
on a “guest” basis using NHSC rules.
If Futurity classes are going to
continue to be qualifying classes
for the Celebration’s World Grand
Championships, and if the NHSC is
the affiliating HIO for the
Celebration, then it is only fair to
the exhibitors and our judges that
they be expected to follow the same
rules for both shows. The NHSC
recognizes the long term
relationship between the Futurity
and our industry and we look forward
to propagating that relationship for
many years to come.
The National Horse Show
Commission (NHSC) is the unified
effort of the Walking Horse
Trainers’ Association and the
Walking Horse Owners’ Association.
The NHSC’s mission is to actively
protect and promote the welfare of
the Tennessee Walking Horse. The
NHSC, the largest Horse Industry
Organization, governs the judging,
exhibition and inspection of
Tennessee Walking Horses at horse
shows across the nation.
